Musical Senior – Autumn

In June, we photographed a very talented senior.  Before her session, we had discussed how her session would be unique to her.  Autumn wanted something that would show who she is as a senior but she also wanted to have some fun doing that.

One of Autumn’s loves is singing.  She has been a member of choir throughout high school and choir is one of the classes she looks most forward to.  Friends, music and fun are some of the words Autumn used when describing her choir sisters.  So, we knew a session with a singing theme had to be part of her images.  As we continued to talk, she also expressed an interest in vintage looks.  And that is how the first half of her session came together.

We started with the classic, vintage 1950’s lounge singer look and tweaked it to fit her.  Once she relaxed and she started singing to the background music, it was so easy to get those natural expressions.  The images that developed are something very unique to her, but also show her love for music.

As we moved through into the next theme, we continued with the vintage look.  Vintage radio and the vintage mic, along with her outfit, all kept with the theme of her love of music.

For the last section, we wanted to stay with the vintage look, but try something a little different.  So, we did a little bit of painting!  Autumn’s outfit is a little more modern than true vintage but we worked with it to try to give it a little vintage feel versus an everyday 2000’s painting look.  One of my favorite images came from this theme and, plus, it was a lot of fun to shoot!

Autumn met her goals with these images:  we were able to incorporate her love of music into her images, plus add a little bit of vintage.  And the images are truly unique to her, which will be something her and her parents will treasure in the years to come.  Plus, we both had a blast (lots and lots of giggles and laughs) while we captured her images!

Good luck this year, Autumn!  And don’t forget to have fun … after all, you only get one senior year! 🙂
